Compliance documents / Project quality

ITPs written to the specification. Signed off on site.

Inspection and test plans with hold and witness points and acceptance criteria drawn from your project specification, delivered as documents or run digitally in Optimax Comply.

The requirement

Client asking for ITPs before you start?

Government clients and head contractors require ITPs to prove work is inspected and tested at the right stages, and that nothing is covered up before it's checked. Missing hold points and untraceable records lead to rework, delayed payments and disputes. We prepare ITPs that follow your work sequence and your project specification, so every check has a clear basis and a clear record.

Who this is for

  • A client or principal contractor requires an ITP before construction or installation activities.
  • Your project needs inspection, test and sign-off points mapped to the work sequence.
  • Quality records are difficult to trace to drawings, specifications or completed work.
  • Your team wants clearer coordination of hold points, witness points and approvals.

Common ITPs we prepare

  • Earthworks and compaction
  • Formwork, reinforcement and concrete pours
  • Drainage and pipe laying
  • Electrical installation and testing
  • Fire services
  • Painting and protective coatings
  • Structural steel fabrication and erection

The method

How it works.

01.

Confirm scope and acceptance basis

We identify the work package, applicable drawings, specifications, standards and contract requirements you provide.

02.

Map the activity sequence

We break the scope into stages where an inspection, test, review or recorded check is required.

03.

Define checks and points

We link checks to acceptance criteria and identify hold, witness or review points from the agreed requirements.

04.

Coordinate the review

Your project team and relevant client or contractor reviewers check responsibilities, notice requirements and record formats.

05.

Finalise for implementation

We issue the final ITP, ready for approval, or set it up in Optimax Comply for digital sign-off.

Questions

The practical details.

What is the difference between a hold point and a witness point?

At a hold point, work stops until the nominated person inspects and releases it. At a witness point, the nominated person is notified and can attend, but work can proceed if they don't. Your contract sets the exact definitions and notice periods.

Where do ITP acceptance criteria come from?

From your contract, drawings, specifications and the Australian Standards they reference. Every criterion in our ITPs shows its source.

Can you create ITPs for multiple work packages?

Yes. We prepare sets of ITPs by work package or trade, in a consistent format.

Do you approve or certify the completed work?

No. We prepare the ITP. The inspections, tests and release of work are done by the people nominated in your contract.

What documents are needed to prepare an ITP?

The scope, drawings, specifications, work method, client template and any contract quality requirements.

How long does an ITP take to prepare?

Typically 2 to 5 business days per ITP, depending on the number of work packages and the specifications involved.

Can we use ITPs digitally?

Yes. We can set up your ITPs in Optimax Comply, so your team signs off inspections on site and failed checks automatically raise corrective actions.
